The State of Peace Report 2024-2025
The 2025 State of Peace Report: Mobilising Ideas and Actions for Peace in Zimbabwe marks five years of community-driven assessment and advocacy by the Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights). This landmark edition captures the urgent realities of peace, conflict, and human rights across all ten provinces, blending nationwide surveys, dialogues, and expert roundtables.
Key findings reveal a nation challenged by insecurity, political polarisation, economic fragility, and shrinking civic space. Only 44% of surveyed communities feel safe, while trust in state institutions remains low and experiences of violence remain widespread. Despite these hardships, communities demonstrate resilience and a strong vision for inclusive, practical peacebuilding rooted in justice, accountability, and local agency.
The report issues targeted recommendations for government, civil society, communities, and the private sector—calling for a robust national policy on peace, institutional reforms, economic empowerment, and protection of civic space. ZimRights invites all Zimbabweans to join a growing movement embodying the spirit of grassroots action and collective hope.
